This project was born amid the chaos that was the year 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to facing an unknown virus, the year 2020 also forced us to face a sad reality that occurs daily in Brazil and year after year, violence against women, which, with the pandemic, had a significant increase in femicide crimes. According to data compiled by the "UN WOMEN", the increase was approximately 1.9% in Brazil and Ecuador, 30% in Cyprus, 33% in Singapore, 30% in France and 25% in Argentina of the reported cases. It is sad that the film “Silence has a Woman's Face” began to be written, which addresses the issue of violence against women, providing a narrative perspective of social impact.

Determined to meet the author, Lázaro begins a detective investigation that takes him to São Paulo and then to Montevideo. In the meeting of Lázaro and Cláudia at a turning point in their lives, the characters face the duel of traumatic episodes, testing their ability to start over.

A FEATURE FICTION FILM:

It is a film that will be produced during the year 2022, in the city of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Madrid, the project has Uruguayan and Portuguese co-production. With a high-level national and international cast, under the direction of Ecuadorian director Jarsom Wayans, the project seeks to reach more than 30 million people directly and indirectly, through festivals, exhibitions in movie theaters, TV, platforms and mainly through an art exhibition to present the project in several cities of the country in peripheral spaces, creating dialogue tables with university students and adults, addressing the main theme of the film, violence against women.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION:

Field of research: Violence against women from 2018 to 2021 has inexplicably increased, models of social and educational transformation with projects of social organizations and public policies such as the Maria da Penha Law, but access to mass communication resources is scarce, therefore, culture and the audiovisual area allow us to create narrative stories in a productive way from the efficient use of information, integrating objectives of reducing the number of dead women victims of femicide, sexual abuse and domestic violence. The film contributes to the windows. Development goals and visibility of real documented cases, from the development, production and distribution of the film.
